Safer Internet Day 2024
This year Safer Internet Day will take place on Tuesday, 6 February 2024. From addressing cyberbullying to navigating social networking and digital identity issues, Safer Internet Day endeavours to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology, particularly among children and young people.
Safer Internet Day 2024 is focusing on the theme “Inspiring change? Making a difference, managing influence and navigating change online”. This day aims to create a safer and better internet, where everyone is empowered to use technology responsibly.
Safer Internet Day 2023 Theme
Today (Thursday 29th September) the UK Safer Internet Centre announced that the new SID theme will be ‘Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online’. The UK Safer Internet Centre is looking for 2023 to ‘put children and young people’s voices at the heart of the day’. This SID which is taking place on Tuesday 7th February 2023 is looking to encourage children and young people to shape the online safety support that they receive whilst looking to answer the following questions:
- What issues really matter to children and young people?
- What changes do children and young people want to see?
- How can we all work together to advocate for them moving forward?
The day will be a chance to hear from children and young people in school about how we can make ‘positive change together’ whilst calling on parents, carers, professionals, government and other organisations to take the time to listen. At Lea School we will be taking part - check our Twitter feed for updates @lea_primary
