Attendance

Information for Parents

Attendance matters”

This is essential for pupils to get the most out of their school experience, including their attainment, wellbeing, and wider life chances. The pupils with the highest attainment at the end of key stage 2 and key stage 4 have higher rates of attendance over the key stage compared to those with the lowest attainment. (Working together to improve school attendance, 29th February 2024)

Positive relationships between parents and the school really does support good attendance for your child.   We will work hard at providing support where it is needed and signpost external support when necessary.

As a parent you can help us by

  • Contacting your child’s school on the first morning of all absences with the reason and indicating when the child may return by 9:30 am at the latest.  Absences can also be emailed to:  parents@lea-primary.hereford.sch.uk
  • If we have not been informed before 9:30am, we will ring home/contacts to establish for absence.
  • If we cannot get hold of anyone, as per our Safeguarding responsibility, we may well conduct a home visit.
  • Arranging dental and doctor’s appointments out of school hours or during school breaks.
  • Do not take your child on holiday during term time (see attendance policy for penalty details)
  • Keep your child’s school updated by telephone or letter if your child has an extended period of absence due to illness.
  • Keep the school updated of any changes of address or telephone number.

Lumi Nova

How it works

Lumi Nova includes two of the most effective parts of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) that are proven to help treat fears, worries and anxiety. These two parts are psychoeducation - learning about worry, and exposure therapy - facing your fears.  You start by setting a Mission for your child to work towards. Each Mission is broken down into 3 goals which they can achieve by completing small challenges.

Breaking down their worries helps young people learn that they can face their fears while building their confidence!
